Terms of Use
Version 4 · Effective 28 October 2026
These Terms of Use apply when you use the StepWise app and website. Please read them with our Privacy Policy.
IMPORTANT: NOT LEGAL OR MIGRATION ADVICE
StepWise gives general information to help you settle in Australia. We are not a law firm or a registered migration agent, and nothing in the app is legal, migration, medical or financial advice. AI-written text can be wrong and may not fit your situation.
In Australia, only a registered migration agent or a lawyer can give you immigration advice. For visa questions, check with the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and MD HASIBULLAH HASIB (ABN 27 628 507 458), who runs StepWise ("StepWise", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the StepWise app or website you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Apple's standard licence agreement for apps (the Licensed Application End User License Agreement) also applies to the StepWise app, in addition to these terms.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use StepWise.
- Give us accurate details and keep your sign-in secure. Tell us at support@thestepwise.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- An account is for one person.
3. Using StepWise fairly
You agree not to:
- use StepWise for anything illegal, or to harm or harass anyone;
- upload documents or details about another person without their permission;
- try to get around the app's limits, security or payments, or copy, reverse engineer or resell the app;
- use automated tools to send requests to our servers or AI features.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
4. Free and Premium
The free app includes the arrival checklist, your saved plans, Household, the Guidebook, the CV builder and the Document Vault, with these limits:
- CV builder: 2 CVs in any 30 days.
- Document Vault: 50 MB in total, files up to 5 MB each.
StepWise Premium adds:
- Companion: a daily check-in on a goal you choose, with study deadlines and study blocks, interview practice and workplace English practice.
- CVs without the 30-day limit.
- Document Vault: 1 GB in total, files up to 15 MB each.
- Higher daily limits for AI step explanations and AI CV drafts.
AI features have fair-use daily limits, shown in the app when you reach one. They start again the next day.
We may change what free and Premium include. If a change takes away something you have already paid for, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
5. Subscriptions and payment
- Premium is an auto-renewing subscription bought in the app through Apple. There are three plans: monthly, every 6 months and yearly. You pay the price shown before you confirm.
- Some plans may come with a free trial for new subscribers. The app shows the length of the trial and the price that follows before you confirm, and only when Apple says your Apple ID is eligible. Apple decides who is eligible.
- If you start a free trial, Apple does not charge you when you confirm. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, Apple charges your Apple ID the plan's price when the trial ends, and your subscription then renews as described below. If you cancel during a free trial, Premium stays on until the trial ends and you are not charged.
- Apple charges your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel at any time on your iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can also get there from Subscription & billing in your StepWise profile. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Deleting your StepWise account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Cancel it in your iPhone's settings first, or Apple will keep charging you.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own rules. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. We cannot give refunds for App Store purchases ourselves. If Apple refunds a purchase, Premium ends.
- If you reinstall the app or use a new iPhone, use Restore purchases on the Premium screen.
- If a price goes up, Apple tells you first and, where its rules require, asks you to agree before the next renewal.
- Apple handles your payment details; we never see your card number.
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including any right to a refund for a major failure.
6. Your content
What you add to StepWise (documents, CVs, notes, household entries) stays yours. You let us store and use it only to run StepWise for you: for example to show it to you, to share it with the household members you choose, to make a CV share link you turn on, and, if you turn on AI features, to send what a feature needs to our AI provider (see the Privacy Policy).
7. AI features
- AI features are off until you agree to turn them on. You can turn them off at any time in Settings, under AI features.
- AI text is labelled "AI-generated". It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important, and read your CV before you send it.
- Use Report on an AI reply that is wrong, harmful or offensive.
8. Document Vault
Vault files are encrypted on our servers and in storage. This is not end-to-end encryption: we hold the keys, so our systems can open your files to show them to you. The Vault is a convenient copy, not an official record: keep your own copies of important documents.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in your profile, under Security & Data. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription (see section 5).
10. The service
We work to keep StepWise available and correct, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may change, add or remove features. Guides and checklists are general and may not be up to date for your situation.
11. Liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Apart from those guarantees, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that comes from relying on general information in the app, from AI-written text, or from events we could not reasonably control.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change applies. The version and effective date at the top show which terms apply.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
